Coming to Sisu has become the highlight of my week! From the minute you walk through the front door, the space is an oasis of calm and positivity. The whole team are lovely and take the time to make you feel welcome. Their Pilates classes are great and the range of teaching styles and difficulty levels is great. They all take the time to explain the movements & guide you through in a way that isn’t intimidating (shout out to Penny, Eva, Sam & Caz), which is great when you are a beginner! Another great feature is the sauna and ice baths facilities, which are a great addition after a class when you’re feeling a little more indulgent or need that extra de-stress time. Highly recommend Sisu to anyone & everyone

Sisu has provided such a calm and inviting space for me to work on the Nervous System Reset Program. For me, this has included 1:1 coaching as well as a mix of group and private yoga and meditation classes. The support, care and genuine openness to finding the right approach for my needs has made it so easy to make some big changes to my wellbeing and fitness. The physical space is calm and inviting and the whole team are wonderfully caring and genuine. In under two months I went from being barely able to drag myself off the couch, to willingly and joyfully, exercising every day and unlocking a deeper understanding of how to connect with my body and treat it with kindness. The low-key, low-pressure environment where everyone genuinely celebrated my wins made Sisu just the right place for me.

I have been visiting Sisu since it opened 1 year ago. Every time I enter the doors I feel complete relaxation. It’s like I’ve been transformed to a place somewhere exotic and calm. Far beyond a Deakin carpark. The warmth, lighting, space, cleanliness and smells are all perfect to be able switch off all sensors. The staff have all be caring, tentative and supportive. Everyone needs a Sisu in their lives!!

Evidence & context

What research says about cold therapy

Recovery

Reviews of whole-body cold therapy mostly show effects on perceived muscle soreness and recovery after intense exercise. The evidence base is heterogeneous and samples are often small.

Research base

Studies describe short-term effects on pain perception and mobility. Results are inconsistent and robust long-term data is largely missing — a therapeutic benefit is not established.

Limitations

Cold therapy does not replace medical treatment. Effect, dosage and frequency vary individually — pre-existing conditions require medical clearance beforehand.
