Had a wonderful experience! The space was spotless, warm, relaxing, and incredibly comfortable. The infrared sauna was a definite highlight, and I felt so refreshed afterwards. I also loved the thoughtful touches, including the Dyson hairdryers and the selection of hot tea, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and a special shout-out to River for the great hospitality. Can't wait to come back!

Great place to relax after a day of skiiing. Lovely atmosphere and staff. Enough people to make it feel cosy without being overcrowded. Great choices of steam room, sauna, and different temperature pools.

My sister and I absolutely loved The Bathhouse Spa Queenstown. It was everything we needed—quiet, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. The little touches like the signature scent, tea, and amenities really added to the overall luxury experience. Everything felt so well thought out and relaxing. The infrared sauna and cold plunge were my favourite. It’ll be on my itinerary every time I go back to Queenstown.

Evidence & context

What research says about cold therapy

Recovery

Reviews of whole-body cold therapy mostly show effects on perceived muscle soreness and recovery after intense exercise. The evidence base is heterogeneous and samples are often small.

Research base

Studies describe short-term effects on pain perception and mobility. Results are inconsistent and robust long-term data is largely missing — a therapeutic benefit is not established.

Limitations

Cold therapy does not replace medical treatment. Effect, dosage and frequency vary individually — pre-existing conditions require medical clearance beforehand.
