“This place is awesome. Sister in law went in for a local treatment for her ankle and immediately started feeling better; she runs marathons and is like a super athlete, a few days later her ankle is still pain free which is awesome. The staff was super helpful and informative, my girlfriend and I decided to do a treatment as well. I ended up doing a full body cryo chamber while she was there. Let me say that it is super cold, I'm from Boston and I felt like I could handle it but I was so so wrong. Holy cow it's cold. Worth it though. Have chronic neck and back pain, haven't noticed it in a few days. The staff was super professional and informative. Incredibly friendly and chill with all the questions and curve balls we threw their way. We didn't make it easy but they handled the work and gave us the best experience possible. They have great prices for cryo treatment compared to other locations in DC, as well as in Boston and New York where my partner and I are from. Really a knockout place and a killer find. Fortunately I didn't come out looking like Han Solo at the end of episode V; unfortunately I still don't look or perform like Labron James but I don't think that's their fault. 10/5 stars, would recommend.”
“After my first month of unlimited cryo sauna usage I am delighted to review this wonderful establishment. I went, on average, 5 times a week. Everyone who works there makes you feel welcome and taken care of. You're in and out in 15 minutes and leave with a smile on your face and a bounce in your walk! My main reason for trying cryotherapy was chronic back pain. I do level 2 (numbing cold) for three minutes, after which the pain disappears completely and is alleviated for around 6 hours. An added benefit is the endorphin rush, giving me a natural high for a couple of hours after the treatment. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a natural boost and some pain relief.”
“District Cryo is great. I went once and then decided to get a monthly membership. I go 4-5 times a week now and it does wonders for my back pain and insomnia. The staff is both friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend checking it out if you are thinking about it.”

Evidence & context
What research says about cold therapy
Recovery
Reviews of whole-body cold therapy mostly show effects on perceived muscle soreness and recovery after intense exercise. The evidence base is heterogeneous and samples are often small.
Research base
Studies describe short-term effects on pain perception and mobility. Results are inconsistent and robust long-term data is largely missing — a therapeutic benefit is not established.
