Went for cryotherapy today & loved it! I train 6 days a week so recovery is so important for me and I’m coming off of an injury so was buzzing to find a cryotherapy unit so close to home! 1 minute at -15 degrees then 2 minutes at -100 absolutely freezing but somehow bearable! It’s not only good for injuries but for general recovery, good for mental clarity and reducing brain fog, helps sleep and I got a compliment on my skin afterwards! Andddd it burns around 700kcal per session! Highly recommend & will definitely be coming again!

Lovely experience here at Zone Recovery, a little bit hard to find but make sure to go through the double doors next to the Zone gym and up the stairs. Lydia was extremely helpful and informative throughout the whole session when i attended. Would definitely recommend booking the session with her. Ps No shower facilities so make sure to bring a towel to use in the sauna and also a spare change of clothes to change into.

Absolutely loved it! I used the Cryotherapy (3mins) and Massage. (20mins) In and out, no need to change into kit, no shower needed. Quick and simple. I would do this a couple of times of week if I lived nearer Following day - I felt lighter and more mobile which I am sure the combination of the massage and everything the day before was a fantastic body reset. Digestion and sleep was improved too. Went to the gym and lifted 10-20% more - I’m at the end of a periodised strength 6 week set but my body and mind was tuned into being fresher so I upped some weights and surprised myself!

Evidence & context

What research says about cold therapy

Recovery

Reviews of whole-body cold therapy mostly show effects on perceived muscle soreness and recovery after intense exercise. The evidence base is heterogeneous and samples are often small.

Research base

Studies describe short-term effects on pain perception and mobility. Results are inconsistent and robust long-term data is largely missing — a therapeutic benefit is not established.

Limitations

Cold therapy does not replace medical treatment. Effect, dosage and frequency vary individually — pre-existing conditions require medical clearance beforehand.
