I’ve been going to Contrast Therapy for a little while now and honestly love it. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of moving between the sauna and ice bath, you walk out feeling completely reset, clear headed and relaxed. The space itself is really well done too. It’s clean, calm, and has such a nice atmosphere that makes it easy to switch off for a bit. It’s such a fun thing to do with friends or your partner, it ends up being one of those experiences where you leave feeling amazing and immediately start planning when you’re coming back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something that’s good for your body but also just a really enjoyable way to spend an 60-90 minutes.

First ever experience and we loved it. How well it’s set out in a small space. The convenience of being open late which meant we could go after work was the biggest hit for us. The cleanliness of everything, the quotes on the wall while your in the ice bath. We used it for recovery as rugby league players, and Deffinitly went in feeling sore and came out feeling so much pain relief and the body feeling amazing days after. Such a relaxing and uplifting space. Definitely will be back weekly for our recovery sessions. Thanks Liz

We had the place to ourselves. Facility was lovely, inviting, clean. We booked an hour - me and my Fiancé and we did about 4 rounds between the sauna and ice bath. Felt so relaxed and full of dopamine afterwards. Highly recommend.

Evidence & context

What research says about cold therapy

Recovery

Reviews of whole-body cold therapy mostly show effects on perceived muscle soreness and recovery after intense exercise. The evidence base is heterogeneous and samples are often small.

Research base

Studies describe short-term effects on pain perception and mobility. Results are inconsistent and robust long-term data is largely missing — a therapeutic benefit is not established.

Limitations

Cold therapy does not replace medical treatment. Effect, dosage and frequency vary individually — pre-existing conditions require medical clearance beforehand.
