The boat had a sauna, hammam, a relaxing room, a hot tub on the roof and a ladder on the roof to jump into the ocean. We booked the spa in advance and spent 2 hours there. We were assigned a private room to change and get ready which made the experience smoother and easier. The view from the roof was wonderful and if you get lucky, you might be able to see the northern lights during peak season.

Fantastic activity while in Tromso! The facilities are quaint in a good way, and the staff (shout out Rita) goes above and beyond. Jumping into the icy cold water and following up with a hot tub was so fun! I bought my ticket in advance but another group just walked on with plenty of space!

Great activity to relax and unwind. We booked 2 hours. We were given our own room for the duration to change and leave our things in. There were 2 very hot rooms - sauna and a Hammam. The Hammam had an arctic plunge pool in it to cool off. On the roof of the boat is the hot tub and the jumping zone into the ocean. We jumped into the ocean despite it being a scary height. My friend lost her apple watch in the ocean. By some miracle the staff were able to fish it out using a magnet on a string despite it being the polar night with no visibility of the ocean floor and a ~10m depth. Cocktails and drinks available too. Staff were super friendly!!! Big recommend.

Evidence & context

What research says about cold therapy

Recovery

Reviews of whole-body cold therapy mostly show effects on perceived muscle soreness and recovery after intense exercise. The evidence base is heterogeneous and samples are often small.

Research base

Studies describe short-term effects on pain perception and mobility. Results are inconsistent and robust long-term data is largely missing — a therapeutic benefit is not established.

Limitations

Cold therapy does not replace medical treatment. Effect, dosage and frequency vary individually — pre-existing conditions require medical clearance beforehand.
